Back wheel jump!

When racing in my local circuit during the last few outings I noticed that when i get out the saddle to close a gap after a corner etc my back wheel feels like it's jumping as i try put down some of my puny power.
This is in the dry and on the flat. I have suffered some wheel spin on a steep up hills when out of saddle but this feels a bit different and i'm a bit confused as to what it is and how i can prevent it. Any ideas please?

Putting your weight too far forwards from the sound of it.0

Get more of your body back over the saddle, puts more force down through back wheel and stops it lifting and skidding.
Alternatively, dont worry about it.0 -
Yup, weight too far forward over the front wheel - try and be more progressive in terms of your power delivery.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks - i'll give that a try. I'm a bit surprised because i'm sure my weight isn't that far forward compared to others....they all seem to look like Cadel Evans leaning right over handlebars to me.amc0

it might be the freebub or chainslip. the kind found growing in the wild. if left unchecked it can take over.0

It's not necessarily how far forward your head is, it is the weight distribution as a whole. You need to keep your arse pushed back a bit probably.0 -
Check your tyre pressure also. If it's too high, you'll get the same symptoms you're describing.0

Ok thanks that makes sense - memo to self, keep arse back.
And ps Cougie - I'm less Tour of Switzerland, more Tour de Toblerone.amc0
