Repair a track pump

My Beto track pump is blowing air out of the top of the cylinder. I can feel it on my fingers beside the metal pllunger.

The pump has two screws at the top so i disassembled the thing. A thread of nylon had come away - I could not see where from. Everythings was well greased. The rubber circle was loose in the two nylon clamps on the metal plunger. Not sure whether it is supposed to be tightly held.

The pump works, but you won't get more than 50-60 psi.

Is the rubber band likely to be worn out? I have been getting the pump pretty hot to get 110-120 psi.

Irritating to throw away.

Sounds like an 'O' rings gone. My local bearings supplier will match any 'o' ring but to be honest and correct me if I'm wrong - the Beto is a very budget pump so I wouldn't bother. Try a Joe blow or something like that.

Thanks. Yes, it's an Argos cheapie but has served me well for six years. Besides it would have been a simple fix except the nylon threaded thing at the end of the plunger which holds the washer has come off and lost its threads. I'll get a Joe Blow.
