    Iirc he was given special dispensation to use an eye wash to help his vision after glaucoma related operations back in the late 1990's. At the time people said if he takes dope tests he'll fail. Personally I think he's a good example of people battling issues and still excelling at sport and good luck to him. He is however to chilled to be a good pundit!

    I like Edgar Davids.

    The lead presenter last night went with the line: "Edgar... Australia, they are improving with every tournament it seems..." you know the typical open statement allowing a follow on. The talented Dutchman replied in a very laidback manner (if I may paraphrase): "Well they're still pretty sh1t."

    And he was f***ing bang on; they were diabolical last night and some of the defending was lamentable.

    Cheat or no cheat, Davids was and is an absolute legend of football. Unique style, supremely skilled (rarely displayed) and as combative as they come.

    To be honest i think there are several Italian clubs probably run a systematic doping system. There have been several positives over the years and that's saying alot considering football players very rarely get tested or banned (although it seems this may be changing). I think there's alot more doping in football than many suspect. If anything, Davids was probably just caught up in the system.

    They caught him red-handed or they caught him with those substances in his system? If I were a professional athlete, then the nasal spray I used for 6 months after smashing my nose would have landed me with a ban. It's a minefield out there.

    For the record; I'm probably the least naive person you could ever meet - to the point where I become a terrible cynic.

    EKIMIKE is correct about the problem with Italian clubs though... have a read about Lazio's involvement.

    +1 to all of that. Edgar is a Leg End. Got chinned by Robbie Keane though.
