Run a Cateye computer at the minute but spotted a Velomann system that seems to do everything.

Anyone got any experience of these or anyone receomend anyting else.

Want all the ususl stuff plus heart rate, cadence and alti meter.

Velomann seems to do it all for about £150?

  • I use a Veloman, just a basic one though with heart rate monitor, no cadence or altitude. I know how fast I should be pedaling and I dont really need to know the grade of hill or height so it does me fine. I sold my Garmin 705 and bought this, a pair of sidi shoes and Time I-clic pedals for the money. Don't miss the 705 at all. Highly recommend the Veloman. Ribble cheapest at the time of my purchase.

I got the cheaper Cateye Micro. I know it's a bit basic for you, but I do have a grumble. It's a PIG to change from Imperial distance to metric. There, I've said it. It's been good and accurate, I just don't like setting it up.

Bike24.com is German but they're good - I got mine from there.

Chain Reaction have them but last time I looked they were about £240.

My mate got one from Amazon last week for £150 but I think they've put priprices up to £189 now.

Found a velomann for £120 and a sigma for 160 Euro.

Seem to be the same and do the same?

    Both get good write ups?

Velomann comes with one sensor so might look cleaner on teh bike?

hi, also looking for new computer, i currently have a sigma, not sure of model but got it 18 months ago, and wish i hadn't! had no ends of problems with it picking up signals from either cadence mount or the fork mounted sensor (which was the worst). would work for a few miles then just decide not to for a few days and then would suddenly work again! was constantly putting in new batteries thinking that was problem, again would solve it for one ride then back to not working.has ended up being the most expensive clock on my bike ever!

the fork mounted sensor is ridiculous, held on just with a little rubber band.the amount of times that the sensor suddenly shifted into my spokes and pinged off into the roadside was getting a joke.what are the sensors like for the veloman, quite interested in their computers.

other option thinking of is the garmin edge 500, basic model eliminates the need of frame mounted sensor as using gps, the model with the speed/cadence mount looks ok but how and where does the sensor mount on the frame, anyone?

basic garmin is £147 and the one with the cadence mount and heart rate monitor is £186 from handtec here

I got a Velomann for my mtb and had to return it next day. The mounting system is pants. I had trouble getting it into its mounting cradle (which is held in place by cable ties). The lugs on the computer which attach it to the cradle are very small and fragile, I managed to wreck them in five minutes and I'm really careful with that sort of thing. Shame, it looked a nice bit of kit.

I run Shimano Flightdeck on both my road bikes and I can't understand why they're not more popular. They design is a bit dated and could do with an update, the buttons on the display head are fiddly. But you have cadence, gear display and all the other bits. Does the trick for me.

Check out the bontrager node - has everything plus altitude I think, and nice readout.. I went for the Edge 500 as I wnated a record of my rides. Most other things the Node will do. relatively cheaper IIRC. Evans I think will order them

edit - ps the cadence/speed sensor nounts on a rear stay - not as aesthetically appealing as the 2010 madonne integral mounts but does the job. 5000km and going strong..

Looking for one also, I don't rate Sigma had probs with them in the past. Velomann do look good gotta say and not overpriced, not at Ribble anyway .... and wondering about the Mavic Wintech range also.

had a look at the bontrager they look nice especially the digital wireless ones.as i dont have a trek will need the speed sensor anyone know how good and reliable the signals are?

have looked into the garmin edge bit more, seems there is an issue with the speed recording when just relying on gps and the extra sensor is a must, anyone with any opinions?

looked at the velomans on amazon lots of negative comments so rather put off with em.

it looks like the same sensor does both speed and cadence, are you ordering from handtec? let me know how your order goes and subsequent thoughts once connected up on your bike, cheers!

I emailed Handtec about the silver / black one. They said they have 'no date for this item'. So dunno, maybe they'll eventually stock it.

Has anyone found the silver one cheaper than RRP?
