Hi,
Just bought myself some Northwave Evolution road shoes with SPD cleats in them. The problem is i do mountain biking and have the mtb cleats on the pedals not the road ones. Is there anyway I can get some sort of adapter so they will fit on the mtb pedals???? If not and if i have to buy some road pedals is there any difference with running road pedals on a mountain bike???

Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

Road clipless pedals on a mountain bike is not a good idea. They are designed to maximise pedalling efficiency and sacrifice ease of egress. If you have to standardise go for MTB pedals on both road and MTB (that's what I've done). I don't think there any any adaptors out there but I am a little confused by your post as to what you currnetly have and what you've just bought.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

Aren't SPD mountain bike? And cleats fit on the shoes, not the pedals?
