Car brake cleaner?

Anyone ever used a car brake cleaner on their bike? Reason I ask is that I've seen some car specific cleaner and it's a steal compared to the bike specific stuff.

Reckon this would do a job or should I steer well clear? Tried a search for this brand on the forums and nothing turned up but has anyone used it?
Cheers

It is evil, yes. We left the can alone in the garage one night, and when we came back in the morning, there was a virgin girl with a ceremonial dagger in her chest, in the middle of a pentagram of candles.
There were also a few slaughtered lambs scattered around, and blood everywhere.
Took me bloody ages to clean up the mess.
At least we used the lambs to make a great Sunday dinner.
Unfortunately, at that point, we realised that Satan had entered the body of the lamb during the disc brake cleaner's ceremony, and by eating the lamb, I became possesed by Satan I suddenly gained several superpowers, like levitation, being able to shoot fire from my eyes, and create thunderstorms at the click of a finger.
Anyway, I stayed like that for a few years, causing suffering and misery wherever I went, until My sister got married. When the priest came over to talk to her, I asked if he could exorcise me. Which he did, Ironically in return for borrowing some disc brake cleaner.
Ah well. These things happen.0 -

Yeah I've seen a few things on google about that. On the manufacturers site it's described as a multi cleaner. There's no list of what's in it though. For under 2 quid including postage I reckon I'll buy a can and see what's in it.
Cheers for the replies.

I've been using Wurth brake and chain cleaner (motorbike stuff) on my bike brakes and chain with no problems.
But at under 2 quid I'd be tempted to give that stuff a go. The wurth stuff is around 7 quid a can retail. Still a 5er when you buy volume0 -
Here in the US at least "Brake Cleaner" can get a little confusing. There is the brake cleaner sold in most automotive stores that is cheap and very caustic and will ruin paint, rubbers, plastics and possibly CF resins. Then there is the brake-contact cleaner sold mostly in motorbike shops that is more of just a contact cleaner for electrical parts and dissolves grease and is generally safe on plastic, rubber and paints unless it's the cheap latex-in-a-can variety. It's also sold as "Electrical Contact Cleaner" in auto stores. I wouldn't recommend either on a bike though unless you were just doing some metal parts where overspray is not a risk. The contact cleaner version won't kill anything immediately but constant use is a little too harsh on non-metal parts.0
