On 19th May I ordered a medium gilet from shuttvr
I received it on 21st May, unfortunately it was too small so I returned it on 22nd May.
My chest measures 90cm breathed out and 96cm deep breath in.
Shuttvr said they'd send me a large.
On the 27th I checked when it would be arriving and was told "it should be with me on 29th" - it wasn't
On the 2nd June I checked when it would be arriving and was told it would be posted that day - it wasn't
On the 7th June I checked when it would be arriving and was told it would be despatched on the 8th June.
On the 10th June I emailed again and haven't received a reply.
Fed up and disappointed as I have a Sportive this weekend and it would have been useful. :(

if you simply must have a gilet on Sunday, why not cut the sleeves off an old full zip jersey and wear that instead..?

I have had a very similar experience trying to buy a jersey. Gave up in the end.

They seem to be having a few delays at the moment - I ordered a summer sportive jersey which was due for delivery last week, but apparently there is a hold up because of demand so it is now likely to be next week. I'm disappointed as I also ordered one of their winter jerseys when that was launched, and that ended up very delayed to the point where I cancelled it.

Other people have had good experiences, and the jersey I do have of theirs is great. I think the main thing is not to pre-order products they are launching, as it seems that they usually run a bit behind.

    A mixed bag for me.

I got very prompt responses when asking questions about the bib shorts. Was told that medium were in stock so I placed the order. Then later on that day i got an email saying they arent in stock but will be back in stock wednesday next week (I ordered them on monday). Its not the end of the world but it is still annoying!

Hopefully the shorts will live up to the reviews in which case I will be happy!

I have the bibshorts, they're great.

I think merchandise is brilliant, stock control isn't
I guess you get this with a smaller company.

I've only had good experiences with Shutt and Pete but I admit that those problems don't look good and are probably due to their small size. I say give it time, their products are top-notch, prices are good and Pete is the most dedicated person I have never met!!! :)

Hi Dave - We screwed up and we're sorry, the first replacement did go and is now a RM claim.. our 5th this month already!

As you know I have grabbed one straight from our factory in Preston today and its going out with a small apology as soon as I finish this post!

Our issue is not just with stock holding so much as forecasting. Being handmade they take longer than we like some times, and only trading for a year we have to make a best guess... Offering preorders does help a bit but with the new demand since we relaunched we've underplanned.

Incidentally we have gone from 2/3 machinists in January to 6/7 now and we still need more. Our new office manager starts next month which should improve our communication too..

on-yer-bike - You never did get back to me as to what the problem is? If you want to let me know we can fix it..

    Sorry again, Pete

I must admit, I've been rather disappointed by Shutt recently as I ordered 2 jerseys from them over a week ago, and was hoping to wear them for a London to Paris ride that I'm doing at the start of next week. Looks, though, as if I'm not going to get them in time as they've had a major stock shortage - rather odd considering it's their new range.

That said, however, I got an email from their MD to inform me of the problem, and he replied within minutes to my follow up emails.

It kind of sums up what's best and worst of Shutt - they're small enough to reply to you directly, but not big enough to hold stock reliably.

I'll certianly be giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one as it's perhaps because viral promotion like these forums have generated much higher than usual demand, and I do want to see Shutt suceed.

I just need to find a way to get two appropriate jerseys in time for next Monday....

I am also keen for Shutt to succeed and hesitated before posting my problem on here.
Their gear is excellent, well priced and UK made.
As you see they've apologised and gilet is in the post.
I still plan to use them as my first port of call for gear

Honest and kind words - As I posted earlier it was down to forecasting.. With the new site and lots of positive feedback from here and the mags we sold out of our new range within a week. It takes 2-3 weeks for the girls in Bradford to make more and all the time we are getting more orders coming in. We made the brave decision at the start of June to employ 4 new machinists. Which we would love to stay with us for the long term as we improve our processes...

We have been told on many occasions it would be easier/cheaper if we shipped everything over to the far east and just had a satellite office in the UK but it isn't why we quit our jobs to start Shutt last year...

I joined them after a couple of emails to Simon resulted in a "if you think you can do better Pete you come and join us pro bono"

    Thanks, Pete

I had exactly the same problem as OP a few weeks ago (that gilet is an incredibly ungenerous medium) and to be fair to Shutt, the problem was rectified within two days. Can't fault the customer service.

Strange topic for a first post but I am not a shill, honest :)

I think this post illustrates why sizing is so difficult for both manufacturers and consumers. I love my medium gilet, but for me the sizing is just a little too generous.
    It's a great garment though!
Sizing must be a minefield for any clothing manufacturer.

Oh yes! Which is why we do no quibble swaps...

Now if we could just get a few more retail outlets interested in stocking our stuff people could try it on beforehand...

I agree. My small Shutt Jersey fits perfectly. I would never have suspected I would need a large gilet from the same manufacturer.

I ordered a jersey the wrong size from Shutt (completely my fault - I assumed I was a small and looking at their sizing chart after the event turns out I'm a medium), but they were great, and sent me out the correct size in a few days. Pleased with both the garment and the service.

When I placed the first order I got an email from Simon (the MD?) saying that they were out of stock and did I mind waiting a few days, which I didn't, but it still turned up only about 3 days after I ordered it.

If I can catch the MD quickly... before he jets off in search of more inspiration...

you dont offer full zip on the team jersey... any reason?
I am fan of full zip thats all.. it being very versatile imo
    I still applaude your ethos

Next 'season' we will.. Reason we didn't is finding a good quality light zip... We only just sourced some for summer kit..

Hopefully by August we'll have the team kit re-patterned and new designs out... inc Long sleeves, gilet and cape. All full zips!

Can't believe I am popping this post to the top given title.. ;o)

Gilet received this morning and it's great.
Pete went well out of his way to sort me out and it is much appreciated.

Shutt clothing is great, and the personal service is unique as far as I'm concerned.

We put the code up and that's how we managed to run out of L and XL..I've taken it off now!

There's one on ebay for £21 if you fancy in Med or use the clubroom discount on a new one... ;-)

Very pleased with my new Team Jersey in red.
Liking the material and classic styling as it's different from my other jerseys.
As their website says, the team jersey is cut to fit very tightly, but it's still comfortable.
    Thanks Miggers
