i've now had enough of bits breaking off my time rxs pedals, and want to buy some new pedals - does anyone have any experience of the time i clic pedals? or recommend others for a chap who needs some float on the pedals?

many thanks

I have Time Iclic Carbons they are the best pedals i have used to date.
Ive only used these and the look style and Time suits me better. The clip in and out is much better Im well impressed.Infact im shocked because the older style Times seem alot more dificult to clip in and the Iclic`s are sweet. 8)

Look Keos have 3 cleat options with a range of floats - 0 degrees, 4.5 degress and 9 degrees. Most people seem to use the middle one (4.5 degrees).

Iclic pedals are generally good. The biggest issue to date has been the durability of the cleats with a number of people reporting broken cleats on light useage. Issue maybe one of compatability of the cleat and the shape of some shoe soles. If the the cleat does not fit snuggly to the sole it can break when downward pressure exerted (such as walking).

I understand that Time have now introduced a more beefed up version of the cleat, so hopefully that should deal with the problem

I've had exactly the same problem with Time RXS with the front edge breaking off and one pedal platform breaking off the axle. - See the thread on here about SPD-SL's

Have decided to give up on Time as they're more fragile than my OH's temper when I buy bike bits.
Shimano 105 or Ultegra seem to get pretty decent reviews so I'm going to give them a bash and see how they go.
Used Look years ago and had sore knees constantly hence the switch to Time ut they're so fcking unreliable and for the price reallly poor VFM.

I'd rather quit than buy from Halfords

I haven't used anything other than Shimano DA pedals but, for me, they have NEVER failed to work properly. I have not performed any maintenance, other than lubing the
clip surface with a bit of oil, in the 6 years I've had them. Float seems to work very well.
Cleats seem to last as long as cleats are meant to last with never a breakage or problem.
Don't know what else to say except that they appear to be well thought out pedals and very durable on top of that. Not much more that I need in a pedal. In fact I'm not sure what else is required of a pedal.

id recommend speedplays, the float is minutely adjustable.

I use Shimano 105s with yellow cleats and had no problems.

  • +1 for the Speedplays.I've used Look Keos, but since last year I've been a convert to Speedplay Zero.
The float is easily adjustable, probably the main downside being price.
