WTF was all that about?....
Old man being very unfunny... Why?
I'm not a lover of Corden, or his humour, but I couldn't see any reason for that attack.
I think he played it well, though, and came out of it on top.

    i agree.
i think stewart took offence at the way cordon was standing on stage hands in pockets - so corden started to deliberately wind him up by doing it more and looking at the ceiling- so stewart did the very clever, witty, stylish thing and essentially called cordon fat.
then later on not sure but insinuating cordon fancied men by mentioning jonas brothers.

made himself look like a childish luvvie

Cordon's just a twat. Stewart is a world class actor with real talent. Cordon's only claim to fame is his gut!

Corden isn't funny, just fat. Patrick Stewart seems lke a nice guy and is a great actor.

Well that was awkward. Picard should have known better and Corden should have just shut the hell up.

Video here for those who, like me, had no idea what the thread was about at first.

that's guff. Corden has talent; he co-wrote Gavin & Stacey FFS. He's just a bit over exposed and I think has let this go to his head a little. I don't really find him funny but thought that Stewart was unecessarily cruel and ultimately came off worse. Any way you look at it, it was a pathetic spectacle.

That isn't disproving the original assertion for me... He's also the voice of harvester. And does that dire sports quiz on sky. Not funny fat lump.

stewart certainly showed his class in that incident. looked more like a pompous t0sser failing dismally to win favour with the crowd. as for your last sentence, everyone has a valid opinion but Cordon for me has done some funny stuff, and for a supposedly revered and classy actor to resort to poking at this belly is pathetic, crass and shows very little intelligence

I tend to agree, but I think it's a bit disingenuous to assert that he's talentless, even if that series was not to your taste.

Gavin & Stacey - funny (although started to lose it toward the end).

Everything else Corden does - not funny at all.

On current evidence Gavin & Stacey is the exception that proves the rule.

Horne and Corden their stand up/sketch show was dire, Lesbian Vampire Killers (while a wonderful title) likewise and the little I've seen of the quiz show....well...

G&S was/is genius at the level of Fawlty Towers and The Office, and to be fair not only was it well written they both were on par with a brilliant cast. Just nothing since.

Unfunny fat kid from school over-reacting to his insecurities by excessive innappropriate bravado - not uncommon but unpleasant when fuelled by a huge talent/paypacket mismatch.

Credit where due if he did co write Gavin and Stacey but I wonder how much he did contribute. He comes across as pretty thick and there was no talent for comedy on display whatsoever in Horne and Corden; I've seen funnier documentaries on Myra Hindley.

The clip I saw of Corden and Stewart lacked any build up so hard to judge why Stewart was making the comments. Stewart could have done better but he was less embarrasing than Cordens cringe making swaggering.

I agree, it was utter shite.
  • I reckons Stewart had to be told who Corden was, and that he had to banter with him about his weight. It fell flat when Corden gave him no get-out. Stewart's done everything from Hamlet to Family Guy, not the wisest person to antagonise career-wise I wouldn't think. In fact I was told a story about him going seriously ballistic at a fan at a Q&A session who insisted on taking his photograph. I wouldn't address him unless it was prefaced with 'permission to speak, Captain'!

I once saw Corden in Leeds. He was sat on a bench on his own eating a cake.

Bearing in mind the natue of the crowd in question (2nd rate celebs mostly) Stewart was never likely to win them over in the first place

Being a big Stewart fan I'm disappointed in the way he handled himself. Quite frankly he should have just done what he needed to do and gone home. I still love the guy though.

I do not like Corden one bit, he comes over as arrogant and loving himself - pretty much lilke a lot of the youth of today. We're fortunate to know that he'll likely eat himself to death before he reaches 40.

I don't watch Star Trek, and I don't find Corden funny, but WTF have their careers, good, or bad, got to do with it?

Stewart had a pop at Corden, and got a convincing 'fcuk off' tablet...

Even the recipient of whatever award it was, made a point of coming down on Cordens side during her speech...

Too far up his own arse (Stewart).

I don't mind James Corden - there's definitely a bandwagon of hate for the lad, but I don't mind him.

I also didn't mind Patrick Stewart, but he showed a side there I'm not really keen on; carrying on like a pompous c0ck and using real base humour having a dig at Corden's physique.

    Corden 1 - 0 Stewart

As I posted before - you need to see it in context. If Metro is right, Corden is, as you'd expect, the principal c0ck.
