I will going to the tourmalet stages of the tour de france. I am from the USA. I'll be visiting friends in the UK and leaving from there. Has anybody done this before? i have never been to Europe. Looks like i'll be traveling solo. I will be traveling by train. Does anybody have any suggstions or would anybody like to travel with me?

The stage starts at Bagneres de Luchon and you can get a overnight sleeper train from Paris direct to Luchon. This will then give you the Col de Peyresourde, Aspin and Tourmalet. You could travel by eurostar from London to Paris.

Also if you choose to spend a few nights in Luchon before the big ride you have access to the Port du Bales, Col des Ares, Col de Mente and the Col du Portillon as warm up rides.
