Hi me and my wife just got back from lake windermere :D
We went to Grizedale woods on saturday morning to Ride the North face trail i pre looked up the info about the trail. But nothing said that the route was so slatey and extremely rocky. To be honest apart from the peaks fire roads and the views i found the Trail quite poor .Does anyone agree :(:( :?: :?:

  • Slatey and rocky are not words I would use to describe it. Shite maybe.

I ride in the lake district every week and the only time we use it is passing through to avoid fireroad. when riding in the vicinity It keeps the nuggets off the good natural stuff so I cant complain too much.

Do some natural routes next time you are there, I can email gpx files if you need.

Are you saying you prefered the fireroads as the rest was too technical,ie slatey and rocky? The NFT is one of the easier red-graded trails and the "slatey and rocky"bits are what are supposed to make it interesting, but are quite tame really.

The NFT is like your local pavement compared to the natural stuff around there and the Lake District in general,so avoid if you didn't like the slate and rocks on the NFT

I agree that if you thought NFT was too 'slatey and rocky' you would be best to avoid the natural routes altogether.
