Metzeler P80 tyres

I need some tyre help!

Some of you might remember my hopeless German Klasse ladies 3 speed bike that I was given. Rusted to buggery and not very well looked after, but I saw it as a project. This summer I've finally got around to looking at it!

Most of it is actually surprisingly good nick- dynamo lights don't work, and the tyres are perished, but otherwise it seems ok.

The tyres that are on it are white wall Metzeler (german?) tyres. They say on them "Metzeler -P80- 47- 622 28.1 75.2"

Can anyone translate what size tyres I need to buy from that???? Obviously the other option is lugging the cracking old lumbs of rubber on my bike to the nearest decent bike shop (at least 10 miles away) which I don't fancy......

cheers!

    Hi,
The key bit is the "47-622", which suggests they are 700x47c.

If you have some 700c tyres around, check that they have the same circumference, then go shopping for some chunky 700c rubber that will look the part- 700x37cs would probably suit...

    Cheers,
    W.
