hi all, hopefully next year i will get the grades to get my self to sheffiled uni.
just wondering are there any rides local, as i wont have a car, i know there are the peaks, but to get to places like hope it would be a fair treck to get there. was just wondering what sort of stuff was in a bikeable distance from the city?
also, this applies to uni students what sort of places are there to put your £2k + bike? as i don't really fancy just chaining it to the racks outside the apartments, are there like bike sheds? or garages?

You can ride to the Peak(Stanage edge)from Sheffield city centre through various woods.Hope and Edale by train is around 20 mins and this gives you access to some of the best natural riding in the UK.
Wharnecliffe woods(serious DHs) is about 5 miles out.
There used to be a "bikebus" to Ladybower/Castleton etc not sure if it still runs.
IIRC there are a few MTB clubs at the Sheffield Unis so i don't think you'll have much trouble with transport/hooking up with other riders.
