Hi. Does any one know if you can attach a childs bike seat to the seat post rather than the frame. Thanks for any help offered.

There are ones that clamp onto the seat tube (so, the part of the frame the seat post goes into). They have a bracket that clamps on, and then two bars go into that. It sort of offers suspension too. Not sure of the brand, but I'm sure someone else will know.
I'm not aware of one that just goes onto the seat post. Nor, if were my child, would I be overly comfortable with that as an option, I reckon.
There's a number of rear racks you can get that clamp onto the seatpost. My topeak one is only rated to a max of 9kg. And even really tight, it will swing left/right. At least if it's on the seat tube, you can clamp it up really tight without (much) fear of crushing the tube.Commute - MASI Souville3 | Road/CX - MASI Speciale CX | Family - 80s ugly | Utility - Cargobike0 -

Cannot see any in the above post that are not attached to the frame. I stand to be corrected but think it unlikely that you will find any that attach to a seat post. Why don't you want one that attaches in the usual way? It strikes me as being far more secure.0

Correct.
As above, I wouldn't advocate attaching one to the seatpost.
The seat tube, however, could be an option for you?
Most are designed like normal racks, however, so on the seat stays if you have braze-ons to attach to, and down at the dropouts.Commute - MASI Souville3 | Road/CX - MASI Speciale CX | Family - 80s ugly | Utility - Cargobike0
