Recommend some Flat pedals with good seals?

I've had V8, V12 & V12 Mags from DMR. But while the pedals are decent in most aspects the internal seals in front of the bushes are shockingly poor.
Lots of grit and dirt simply bypassed the seal and after awhile the pedal was making a clicking rubbing sound.

So what alternative flat pedals have decent/good seals that can keep out the dirt?

Any help will be much appreciated!

shimano dx flats, not touched mine in nearly three years and they still spin as smooth as they day they came out of the box, seriously impresive pedals :)

haven't tried the superstars, but the mg-1 is not particularly well sealed. Definitely requires regular flushing through with grease to prevent contamination.

The superstar pedals are worth a punt but i'm going for some point one racing podium flats. 8)

    +1 on superstar

Not only are they well sealed, replacment bearings/bushings are at very reasonable prices.

Are you mental? They are far from light...

.. HOWEVER.. great pedals, worth every penny (and it's not that many of them) 8)

Have you tried flushing out the grease?
I have V8s on my bike, and i found that by completely flushing out the grease they were as good as new. You don't get enough grease with them in that little syringe to be of any use though.
  • My superstars are awesome!
  • +1 for flushed v8s. depending on the mileage, ill try and do it every couple of months, seems to have kept mine running fine and smooth :D however i can see how it could get tedious doing this alot if there is an alternative that requires less maintaience (as there clearly is)

well, it only takes about 10 seconds per pedal to flush the grease through V8s, if there's any faster maintenance possible, I'd be glad to hear of it.
  • ti axles for my superstars when they get gritty!

big cheese- they're light compared to other aluminium CNCed pedals, and much lighter than my previous pedals
  • Thanks people for the feedback.

As I'm not one to shy away from a bit of bling. Was considering Nuke Proof Proton Mag-Ti Pedals
But a lot of recomendations for the Superstars so can anyone give a comparison between the Nuke Proof Proton Mag-Ti Vs the Superstars

While I'm not adverse to doing maintenance on pedals or any other part.
I figure if the seals were better [espically on DMR pedals] maintenance intervals would be longer and performance/reliability would also be better also.

Well, since I first flushed the grease on mine over a year ago, I've not needed to touch them since. I think when they're full of grease, nothing much else can get in there.

    Same pedals, different names.

The SS Mags are the same as the Nuke Proofs protons, just tick the Ti axel upgrade for the Superstars

can you really argue with these?

Never tried arguing with pedals myself... do they have some witty comebacks?

Might give it a go tonight for comedy value :)

Nukeproof pedals are the same as the superstars.

So for Nukeproof you are paying more for bad customer service, overpricd spares, but the same product.

    Not a hard choice =-)

give the kona whah whah's a look. had mine for a couple of winters of ridding in the grit stone mud of the peaks, which usually kills everything in double quick time, and they still run smooth as when they came out oif the box with no servicing what so ever.

grip and support on them is excellent (prefer them to everything else i've tried - v12's, atom labs etc) and they were only about £45
