What`s happened to my MTB tyre?

I turned it inside out and now it won`t go back to it`s proper shape.
Is it dead? Have I killed it?

chances are you turned it back the wrong way. It will probably be OK but it depends on if the wire gets kinked

I should say it`s a folding tyre and I can`t get it back on the wheel.

Did you turn it 'back', in the opposite direction to the way you originally turned it?
If so, it's terminal... Shoot it!

    That must be what happened.
I`m sad to report that despite my best efforts to unkink the wire it had to be put down.

Get a nice shoe box, add some appropriate decoration, then bury it in your back garden...

Spray it white, nail it to your wall and tell the grandchildren that it's the jaws of a shark that you bagged in the Canaries. Add a suitably unbelievable story reagarding saving the tour guide after he fell out of the boat and the number of camels he offered you as thanks for saving his life.

Sounds like the bead has twisted in the casing. A nightmare with wire bead, but can be rescued by untwisting the tire in the opposite way to which you twisted it.

Folding tires however................. I suspect you're screwed, sorry :(

It may be possible to unbend the kink in the wire bead with the judicious use of a pair of pliers. But once done check that the bead isn't breaking away from the sidewall (high speed blowouts are not fun, I know...)
