Hi all - Looking for a small pouch for carrying usual spares/mobile/keys etc in a jersey pocket and so far have only seen the Rapha offering which is perfect but ££££

Anyone got or seen a similar zipped padded pouch which is small enough to stuff in a jersey pocket?

Where about are you located? If you're anywhere near a town with a Muji, go in there. They sell loads of different sized zippy-upy pouches. Not waterproof though.

This thread would be more popular if it said ' Is there a more expensive version of the Rapha one'

+1 for Muji. I found a small zip-up pencil case / bag that does the job. I have tried various spectacles cases and sunglasses cases in the past but so far this little chap's a good 'un.
Got a veritable survival kit in it (sans tube though) and it fits nicely into a back pocket. Add some padding of our own if you don't carry much in case you land on it.
I may be a minority of one but that doesn't prevent me from being right.

    Freezer Bag.

    What more could you need?

I have a lot of Rapha gear but come on....
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Lezyne also do a zip up one in grey and black that is really good too.

    Caddy sack it is http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Lezyn ... 360049605/

Lasts longer than a freezer bag....

I'd love a rapha one, but the MONEY!

+1 for the old sock. If it has to be Rapha, just buy Rapha socks - still cheaper than buying the Rapha pouch...

I like to have a few things to hand when out on the bike. I looked at the Rapha Essentials Case, but like you, wondered whether it was possible to get even better value. Yes, difficult to imagine I know, but if you don't try....

After a painstaking search, and looking carefully at costs, I was pleased to discover that it actually worked out cheaper to hire my own ProTour Cyclist, riding one of the bikes below, to follow me around on my ride, than it did to buy a Rapha Essentials Case and carry the bits myself.

And as well as being cheaper than the Rapha Essentials Case, he can carry more than just spares and tools, so I get an occasional ice cream too.

I use a leather case for a sat nav - about the same size as the Rapha one but without the motivational slogan. i was tempted by the rapha one but it was just too much for a leather pencil case. the sat nav case cost me about a tenner.

Dont bung your spares/mobile/keys in the one pouch unless its a knackered old phone.
My phone goes in a ziploc bag - subscribe for the free Zipvit offer and they send you some perfect bags !

Tools and keys go in a little pouch that i think M&S undies came in - about 10 years ago !

Put it inside some pita bread. You can even nibble on it if hungry. Take out the donner meat though.

But come on guys all your ideas about using socks, and ziploc bags just don't cut it. You won't get the 'bon courage' type on the Rapha one.

Sheeesh! talk about missing out ......

  • Someone epically pointed out in the first look that the heavy duty branded plastic bags that they deliver their clothing products in doubles superbly as an essentials case.

    Maybe for certain audax types

Rapha have that case in their sale at £10 off if that helps sway the decision. Prendas do some special mobile-phone socks for not much money

There's a big difference between "hate" and "laugh at in disbelief"
