Hi Guy's I'd just like to share my latest project with you; the donor bike was the first bike I ever bought myself (a BSA “The Prima”) in 1979. It was made by Raleigh, but may have been built in the Carlton Factory in Worksop before it closed down.

The frame is a 3 tube 531 and had relatively new cotter-less cranks and 12 gears! It served me well for around 6 years before I gave it to my brother in law. Having acquired it from his garage where it has been languishing for some time, I decided to convert it to fixed gear and have just got it back from powder coating (The colour is RAL7006).

This was done by Windridge Coating ( www.windridge.co.uk/content.php/410) as they were able to fill in the dents in the frame before powder coating (something other powder coaters told me couldn’t be done?).

Anyhow, I got the frame back today and it is great (Dale at Windridge even re-tapped the BB after coating), so I just wanted to share it with you all............

Nice...How long before we see the complete build?

    Hi Leeroy72,

I'm going to take it to my local bike shop (Ciclos Uno) on Saturday to have the headset and crown race pressed on, so they will have it for a week as I can't get there til the following weekend, so it should be ready to ride in a fortnight.

    Pictures will be posted!
  • Damn that is one serious transformation. How much for the powder coating? It's an amazing job...can't wait to see the finished article.

I'm on a Genesis Flyer and thinking of a similar chrome or greyish paint job.

SMART sticker on that too, classy.

The powder Coat was £90 (www.windridge.co.uk/content.php/410) but I also had a number of dents filled before the coating was done, so the total price was £135.00 inc Vat - not the cheapest around, but the quality is great and Dale at Windridge Coatings goes the extra mile - I'm very happy with it. Just had the headset and crown race fitted and its waiting for me to collect from the bike shop, but I can't get there until the weekend!
