Why do stores advertise on their website that they have a product and when you buy it, it doesnt arrive. When you call you find they dont have it and are waiting for it to come in to stock. I'd rather know up front so i can order elsewhere!! I think ill call back and cancel...

Rant over.

I think the advertising code requires that sellers can actually supply the goods they advertise, see this adjudication for example: http://www.asa.org.uk/Complaints-and-AS ... 38390.aspx

They do it because they hate you and want to ruin your life. I can't think of anything worse myself, rather be shot by some nutter in Cumbria myself.

  • I've only once experienced an online store that let me place an order when the item was not in stock. Long term, their loss bacause they are now on my blacklist.

Most sites I use have stock indicators that seem to be accurate - they will get repeat business, and often recommendations too.

I reckon some shops sell short, advertise a product they don't actually have, but will order it from their supplier once the order from you has gone through. I recently ordered some new forks on line, order accepted , a few days later got an email to say that their supplier no longer carries those forks and they would refund my card. Not very impressed.

Argos do it all the time.....bloody annoying

I ordered a bed from them (website claiming it was in stock and would be delivered in 3 - 5 days) and heard nothing. Had to go into store and complain and they called customer services who then told me it was going to be 3 months till I would find out when I would get my bed!!! Took them another 2 weeks to change their website from saying it was in stock!

Happened with a few things with them but only once to this extreme
