Look after Wilson, he is needed to play proper football half way through August and onwards. I trust his Trevor Brooking was for time wasting and not getting involved too much?

Didn't know he was leaving Spurs.

Good to see South Africa as good as out. They poxed the 1pt against Mexico while being complete dogsh1t and last night they got what was coming. Uruguay were class. Forlan and Perez were the stand-outs.

A South African lady on 1089 (or was it 909?) this morning claimed the Uruguayans won easily because they were professional and South Africa were not. When pressed on this for clarity she basically said that the South African team is picked on colour and not ability.

I have never forgiven the Uruguayans for the way they mugged Scotland in 1986 (for those who don't remember it, they needed 0-0, had a player sent off within the first minute and after that the ball was an unnecessary distraction).

Grudgingly, therefore, I have to admit that they looked quite well organised and skilful last night.

I enjoyed NK against Brazil. NK did very well, I thought. Hope this is as good for you.

Stefanos - sorry mate, a few people got missed off. I started copy n pasting a list from about 6 pages in so not sure what happened. I can always re-allocate a few teams so some people are sharing?

There'll be a few people without teams soon anyway (not me of course, Viva los Catrachos!!!!!! ). Hopefully one of them will be Ratsbeyfus (no offence) although I've got a horrible feeling they'll still go through.

The referee had a shocker, but it was amusing to see the pundits trying not to laugh at Germany's misfortune (especially when they missed their first world cup penalty for 28 years!). Just goes to show all those indignant moralists that laughing at your closest rivals' misfortune is normal tribal human behaviour.

    Rabbie Green's a Scotland Fan!

The Germans have an excellent word for such occasions: Schadenfraude

    Isn't that right Mr Beckenbauer?

The Aussies transferred the national sporting talent today from rugby to football and they scraped a draw. The only way is up!
