I noticed on Monday I had a flat. So on Wednesday I bought a new inner tube, got home and changed it over and thought all was great.

However I went for a ride today and noticed there was a slight bump as I was riding that was realy getting on my nerves. So I checked my tyre and there seems to be an alost flat spot where the tyres gone out of shape.

I guess its from where it sat on that spot when there was no air in the tyre, is there a way of getting rid of the flat spot and making the tyre round again lol or is it a case of a new tyre??

Ta Andy!

Hmm, are you sure you mounted it properly? First thing I'd do is remove it and remount! Doesn't sound logical that it would go out of shape in that time. I've heard of it happening with cars that have been stood up for a while and just driving it sorts it out. Otherwise just change the thing hey!

hey, nah its definately the tyre :S when i spin the wheel its fine then theres just a flat spot like i say must have been where it was sitting with no air.

However I will take off and re mount just i case!!

Otherwise I guess its just an excuse to upgrade tyres :D

Take it they're wire bead tyres then? Perhaps the wire has gone out of shape then? Never heard of it though. Did you lock up before the flat?

Not that anyone will be interested but I found the solution. Shitty decathlon inner tubes!

I took the tube out of the tyre and blew it up just out of interest and noticed that where the tyre was folded in the packet and there was a crease the tube was bulging. That bulge was exactly where the tyre was looking out of shape... so it wasn't a flat spot but the tyre bulging... so im awaiting some new conti tubes :D

    thanks for your suggestions fella.

    The end!

Put soapy water around the beading/wall of the tyre. If you look closely at where the tyre touches the rim you'll see that it's sitting in the rim uneven. The soapy water will lube the tyre wall enough so it can slide past when you inflate it.

Genius 8) Surpised that one isn't in the instructions that come with crappy Decathlon tubes

When you've finished with those Hutches, try a set of Vittoria Rubino pro foldings. They'll be give a much faster, smoother ride and I've never punctured them in hundreds miles of wet/winter rides. Folding tyres are much more flexible anyway so you probably wouldn't have this problem with the tubes anyway.

    good tip that :D

I was actually looking at that particular tyre you mention there the other night. I think they will be my next buy once I have worn through these ones.

Rubbish. The tube will just follow the shape of the tyre as the carcase is far stronger than a tube. If the tyre is not damaged and is fitted straight then any tube in any condition will blow it up straight. I would not ride it with a iffy tube though.

I have 2 Conti GP400s that are out of round. Bloody expensive hobby that is!

I have tried them with different rims, tubes etc, still out of round..............

Not so bad on the road (although I have taken them off) they're awful on the rollers!
