Pike v Marzocchi

Hi,
My frame, 2008 Proflex 768 small, came with a Pike. I've changed it to a Marzocchi XC 600, 2008 model.
It now seems as though there's too many h/set spacers, as the Zocchis appear to be a much lower/shorter fork overall. The front end from the side seems quite low now.
Is this the case or are my eyes deceiving me? I haven't measured the difference, but it looks quite substantial.
Even with a riser bar and stem it seems lower.
So...to avoid any over-the-bar moments, and without cutting the Zocchi steerer tube too much - I'll put them on my hardtail - which fork would be "similar" to the Pike, but w/out the heft/weight, for Trail centre rides?
Thanks...

You just swap the spacers around until the stem is in the same place as before. Or wherever you want.
But of course the forks crown to axle length might be different which is lowering the front end.
Not quite sure of your problem lol.0 -
are they the same travel as the pikes were? (140mm)
if so, try as ss said.
as for new forks, well pikes are pretty much the dady's of tough, fairly cheap 140mm trail forks.
for a bit more doh, try Magura thor's they are awsome. Alternatively RS Revelations are propper good 140mm, light, trail forks.I like bikes and stuff0 -
The Marzocchis are "supposed" to be 140 travel, but...I'm getting less, hence the h/tail transfer.
My problem is, there are about 7 - 8 spacers to get the bar height the same as with the Pikes. Way toooo many!
So, I need to raise the front end up, to have only 3 - 4 spacers and have the handlebars the same height as what they were with the Pikes, which I've sold.
Therefore a "perfect solution" would be: A pair of lightish, 140 travel forks, with the same length of overall height as the Pikes had etc.
Light weight Pikes , if you like.
Sorry for the confusion...I am Welsh after all !0 -
You need to look up the crown to axle heights of the forks and make some comparisons.0

light pikes? thatl be Revelations then.
08 or newer, before they were 130mm. if you get 2010 they are 150mm but can be shortened.
Magura Thors are IMHO the best 140mm light forks you can buy, but they arnt cheap, and some would disagree.I like bikes and stuff0 -
Thanks guys, I'll checkout the crown-to-axle height, plus the Revs/Thors asap.0

Why did you sell the pikes for XC600's anyway? The pikes are far better... albeit a little heavier, but i'd rather have the better performing forks!0

You said it...heavier!
To get to my favourite local "secret" slate quarry, it's a 1,000ft climb, just about.
So, I'd rather die on the descent with the Zokes rather than on the climbs with a Pike!0 -
Merlin have some great deals on revs at the minute0
-
on one have revelations or 32 floats for £3000
-
The top end Proflex's have the Fox F32's, so this has gotta be an option.
Don't know if I need all the bells/whistles, just a good honest down-to-earth fork.
Some web surfing to dun, methinks...0 -
