Replacement rigid forks for my hybrid

I currently have RST Neon ML forks on my Mongoose hybrid which I use for my work commute, they are pretty much inappropriate for the riding I do, they are always locked out.
So I am after replacing them with something a bit lighter (the current forks weight nearly 2kg!!!!), and rigid, possibly carbon to damp out some of the road buzz.
I have no idea what I need to be looking for, all I know is the current forks, and the fact that they need a disc mount.
Anyone point me in the right direction?

first thing is to find out the fork length. what is known as the AC (axel to crown) length
shown here as total fork length
and then find a fork with a suitable length. Generally you would get one a bit shorter when replacing a sus for to compensate for the sag.

465mm, apparently...., also, I believe the wheels are 700C
I assume these would suffice? > http://www.carboncycles.cc/?p=197&0 -
