Replacement rigid forks for my hybrid

I currently have RST Neon ML forks on my Mongoose hybrid, the are pretty much inappropriate for the riding I do, they are always locked out.

So I am after replacing them with something a bit lighter (the current forks weight nearly 2kg!!!!), and rigid, possibly carbon to damp out some of the road buzz.

I have no idea what I need to be looking for, all I know is the current forks, and the fact that they need a disc mount.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

If you replace your suspension forks with rigid, there will be quite an effect on the geometry... The rigid forks will be much shorter, thus lowering the head tube, etc...
But, in reality, any fork with the same steerer will fit.

Really?, ahh, thats not good then, is there no way to do it without altering the geometery then?

Not that I know of... But there maybe someone along soon that knows better.
Or, you could try posting in Workshop, or maybe even post in the 'commuting' section for more experience.

There are ways around it, you are not struck with suspension, many ridgid forks are 'suspenion corrected'. Kona Project 2 forks are the classic fork to look for, I've had them on my commuter for 5 years and they are spot on.

What size wheels do you have 26inch or 700c?

Yeah see those forks are corrected to account for 100mm of travel in a suspension fork....I seriously doubt you'd have a problem with geometry with one of those (i.e you current fork hybrid will probably have about that travel).
