6 of us going to do 'le geant' in a couple of months time, taking the camervan down there (some mammoth driving to be done!)

Anyway, i know there are 4 campsites in Bedoin, and also a camping Aire. Anyone used any of them, and could recommend one?

  • Hi. Just got back from Bedoin last week. Weather (in Bedoin) was great, though suffered from 60+MPH winds at the top - got blown clear across the road twice (and I am 100+Kilo) and the unfortunate fact of Zero Visibility riding in the clouds from the Chalet to the top.

Bedoin itself is a lovely little village, some excellent food - the grill place (le Grillon???) is especially impressive, though restaurant l'escapade tries a bit too hard for my liking. Great views and photo op's from the site of the old church btw (up the little alley beside the new one).

We (myself and wife) stayed in our Tent at the 'camping la garenne' campsite (http://www.camping-ventoux.fr/). Nicely shaded in the pine trees and within three minutes walk of the village centre. Camping plots are nicely spread out with no crowding. Three nights cost us just under 34 euro. Site has good (hot and free) showers and a nice pool with variety of loungers etc.... there is also an on-site bar and reasonable restaurant.

Experience dictates that the camping municipal would probably be cheaper but a little more basic and plots a touch smaller/crowded together - though the pool is the municipal one also, so is a fair bit bigger.

Good luck with the ride - if the weather had been better I was aiming at the Cingle - gutted, as I felt great on the bedoin route. I will be back next year at a similar time of the year though!
If I can feel the pain in my arse, I mustn't be hurting my legs enough.

Cheers for that report, Ive been in touch with La Garenne and while they dont accept reservations for short stays, this is our first choice site and i expect it wont be full in the 2nd weekend of september.

If not we can try that municipal one or even the camping Aire. We are going on a shoestring budget so i guess we wont get much chance to test the restaurants - we are taking a motorhome.

Really bad luck on the wind and weather, we are praying we get a good day as all have our heads and hearts set on the cingles!
