How annoying is it that the M1 is now full of speed cameras and variable speed limits :( So not only can I not go above 70, sometimes we get a nice speed limit of 40 slapped on there for no reason except to annoy us!!! Seriously.

I don't think the gantreys round Nottingham way have any cameras on yet but you have to go slow just in case

On a positive note, the speed camera 1/2 a mile down the road from me has been blown up again...win.
And no............it wasn't me!

Aye, I was on that stretch of M1 on m motorbike.. At 50... All new road surface, and it was a gorgeous day too! So, I started 'slalom-ing' (keeping to one lane). Got some right dirty looks.

    Meh, car drivers smell! :lol::lol::lol:

But yeah, I mean... C'mon! ENOUGH FRIGGIN SPEED CAMERAS!!!!

They really need to up the speed limit on Motorways to 80mph and then be really strict on it.

But i bet you wish it was.

There a pest, i remember tehm stating we are not out to catch you.. next day I drive come round a blind bend (with in the speed limit.. it was blind) and there the sucker was sitting there grinning in his van with a camera.

It's 'common' sense... If there's an empty/ish stretch, then why not go faster...? If it's safe...

Fair enough in heavy traffic / bad weather though.

I regularly drive through those average speed cameras. It is alleged that I am technically 'speeding' through them. It is also rumoured that the outside lane of the motorway is not covered by the speed cameras for legal reasons...

Drive through them at over 100mph, and keep us informed as to what nice letters the police / DVLA / whoever sends you..?

I did a trip down to Surrey and back last weekend, observed the back of all the gantreys and no cameras. At least on the M25 they actually have cameras....on the M1....nope....just there to annoy.

Some of these are quite bad

I was told by a reliable source that ones we mostly see now in the roadworks can't get an accurate reading if you change lanes however, the new ones which are starting to be introduced can. The new ones are the ones that have the sensors only on one side of the camera not both!

I agree in principal. I also will say I have first hand experience of 4 of them and they are all taken out of context.

What a bunch of webbos on that site. "Here's a straight stretch of road with a 40 sign that you can see for ages. Some time after this is a speed camera obscured by a leaf. This is dangerous because drivers breaking the law will want to avoid being punshed for breaking the law and will slam on their brakes." Not the fault of the drivers breaking the law, no, certainly not.

I don't see how anyone caught by a speed camera can complain. If the speed limit signs are ambiguous, or hidden then fair enough. But if you're knowingly commiting an offence, then you can't complain when you get caught for it can you?

And to whoever mentioned relying on driver's common sense.....seriously? I had some guy in a BMW (not Surfmatt ) tailgating me on the motorway, flashing his lights at me the other day because I dared to undertake him. Maybe if he wasn't doing 70 in the 'fast' lane of a fairly emtpy Mway then I wouldn't have undertaken.

Sorry if I seem touchy, but I was nearly squashed by a moron driver last night who then had the cheek to tell me I was in the wrong. Apparently signalling right and moving over towards the centre line is actually an invitation for a driver who's been sitting behind you to drive into your back wheel, not a suggestion that your about to turn right, as you may have thought.

Am I in the right place :?:

This seems to be a thread where people (a) admit to driving cars and (b) admit to the most despicable practice of speeding :!:

NO-ONE has got on their high horse and got al morally righteous about it yet :?:

I'm guessing they're all over in P&L discussing carp

It has been said that Andy is an epic Facebook stalker.....

EDIT: Actually, that was pretty easy. I would send a friend request (because coolness is obviously determined by the number of FB friends you have), but I'm scared of rejection

If you're going to leave email addresses lying around it's going to be easy to find you!
