Why is their sizing so wrong.....? I bought a nice little wind jacket last week on Ebay, tried it on and found that the 'Large' size would only be suitable for a small boy. I'm 6' tall and pretty slim (ish) and reckon I'd need an XXL.
It's not right. I'm a bit gutted really, as I quite liked the look of it.
Is all cycling clothig sized this badly?
Rant over. :x

Short answer: Yes.
I'm 1.84 tall and about 82 kg, and depending on the brand I have things that are size L and too big or XXL and just right. What's even more annoying is when you buy things from ONE brand and there's no consistency. I've got a few Campag things and they are one of the "variable" brands. I have shorts and knicks in size L which are a bit big, but XL jersey is a snug fit indeed.
Anything Italian designed is always small. Nice place, but apparently the country is populated by short-ar$ed skinny wimps with chicken-wing arms and nothing even remotely resembling a "shoulder".Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

Hey! I'm just under 6ft and i'm a medium in all Campag and Castelli. No body builder admittedly!0 -
I bought an XL campag sleeveless top - needless to say it is so tight I look like a dancer in a Frankie Goes to Hollywood vid. :oops:0

Ha ha.
Years ago I bought a set of Prrace bib tights for the winter - size L. They were too big for me (6'3") but did the job ok. Earlier this year, being older and much wiser, I bought a set of Orbea bib tights (to match the bike obviously ) - size XXL. Even when dong the chimp walk they were attempting to bisect me! Far too small. When held up they looked like they might just about fit my (very petite) wife.
Converley, I have 3 pairs of the Camapgnolo Fire bib shorts, all in size XL and they fit me perfectly!
My catelli long slleve jersey is "snug" in XXL but my Sportive soft shell is perfect (also XL).
I now assume that I need the largest size possible and I prepare myself for dissapointment and returns before they even arrive0 -
I have an XXL Castelli coming tomorrow. Said to be 42.5. Hoping that it's not painted on. I wear medium in most shop clothes.
I am currently fearful that my Mavic XL arriving today will be too tight. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

You might be in luck. I just received a Mavic Helium jacket in XL and it's actually bigger than I expected. Could have done with just a Large.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
you could always try it on and go from there

And it would be a good idea, if there was anybody within 1000 km of me that actually stocked this stuff, but there isn't. So, you takes your chances...
Plus, you guys in the UK have no idea how CHEAP things are over there.
Case in point: I recently bought a Campag Super Record front derailleur from Ribble over t'net. The cost, shipped and in my post box in less than a week was (in AUD) $150 or thereabouts.
A local retailer here who sells quite a few Campag bikes (WIlier, Pinarello and Time) quoted me $449 for the exact same thing.
Clothing prices offer similar bargains. I've bought a stack of Giordana stuff from Ribble and CRC for less than half the cost I pay at my LBS, and he gives me a serious discount on local RRP.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

buy two/three sizes and send back the ones that don't fit. It's not really about taking chances.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0
