Hey.

I'm wanting to race at Castle Combe tomorrow night, however I'm not a member of British Cycling, nor do I hold a Provisional or Full Racing licence.

The race is Regional C+ closed circuit, is it possible to get a day licence when I turn up?

Thank you. Has anyone done this before also?

I have just emailed the organiser now. Just awating a response, according to the British Cycling website it says you can get Day licences for Regional C+ events, I am just double checking so I don't make a wasted journey.

You can get a day licence. However - you really only need it if you want to collect points. If you're not looking for the points (or don't think you'll finish in the top 10) - skip the licence.

Don't you need a Day Licence for insurance though? I also thought that you don't get point with a Day Licence??

Don't you have to have it for insurance purposes? News to me that you could race without any sort of licence at all. Also didn't think you got any points on a Day Licence.

    It's a C+ (E/1/2/3/4 handicapped race) not a Go Race event

Well - this was my understanding. Have even been told this by some race organizers. You need to be a BC member to race - which gives you your insurance I thought.

Just read the rule book and can't find the answer in there. Typical BC!

Bronzie - just read another post by you. If you have a Silver/Gold membership then you don't need a day license for many events.

    Day license costs:

    Bronze
    Silver/Gold----Non BC Members
    Regional A/B-£10.00
    £5.00
    £10.00
    Regional C+---£5.00
    Free
    £10.00
    Regional C
    £5.00
    Free
    £10.00
    Go Race
    Free
    Free
    £5.00

Seems you wouldn't get points then even with a day license as you don't need one fo rmost events!

So - to answer your original question: you CAN buy a day license even as a non-member and it will cost you an additional £10. Sorted.
