Chain Ring Bolts

Any tips on removing a seized chain ring bolt?
I've got a Parktools peg spanner thing for the inner side (Like a flat screwdriver thing) but the edge has been burred so the peg spanner keeps slipping!
Any ideas, before I have to resort to the drill?

err drill
not much else as the outer one goes inside the inner one."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
have you done up all the others?
if this is the sole one under load it can be a bit of a pain to remove, generally if you're resorting to the tool then you're a bit buggered already.0 -
6mm drill is the tool you need and some way of turning it very quickly.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

All sorted (and no drill required!) :P
I used a T30 Torx bit in a ratchet, which I strapped to the crank arm to hold it in place, I then got a cold chisel and my 'fine adjustment tool' and lightly tapped the back of the peg until it came loose. The light taps were the biggest problem as a 4lb lump hammer struggles with 'light'.
Once the grip was broken, it unscrewed quite easily.
I'll be using a dab of copper ease on the threads when I re-assemble it, something Mr Shimano's finest could have done with doing when it was originally assembled.
Anyway, thanks for all the advice above and hopefully someone will benefit from my blunt instrument/big hammer approach. :twisted:It seemed a good idea at the time..............0
