XC tubes for DH

I have a question thats been nagging at me for a while now.
Some people seem to be using XC tubes for DH and i'm wondering what benifits there are for doing this? ok the obvious is weight saving but i've also read some where that it also helps with pedaling, like acceleration for example, is this true?
Are the risk of pinch flats worth taking over the small amount of weight saved on a DH rig?

Thanks

Gary

The acceleration is just a result of reduced weight - less mass to get moving.

I doubt there will be a noticeable difference between the 2 types of tube tbh, so personally i wouldn't bother.
