my 02 sids are leaking around the seals, i bought them second hand and the ride height is far higher than the 80mm they should be, could this be from too much oil and will this be causing the leak or does it need a new seal kit

    which sids?

and too much oil tends to reduce the travel.

sounds like they may have been extended.

    service time.

they are an 02 xc, 63/80mm the current height off the bike is 120mm, i am assuming i can pick a seal kit up from tf tuning for about £15 plus fork oil, will this be all i need parts wise, also if the height has been extended will there be removable spacers that can be ditched so i can bring it back down to its right height

120!! god knows what has been going on in there then.

there was 12mm of neg travel built in. but the fork should have been 63/80mm only.

wait for sonic for more info on them.

Mmmm are you sure they are 2002?

and are they air or coil?

HYDRA AIR: 2000-2001 SID XC 100.

    Mmm got pics.

They look to be 100mm SIDs from 2001. Has the 2001 chassis for sure.

if you can imagine getting some chain lube and quickly go round the fork seals with it, its about that much after a couple of full compressions, here is a pic

Does look like the seals need replacing.
