Bit puzzled

Went out yest'day with a mate who's a bit slower than me (It would not offend him for me to say that).
The weather was mostly rain of varying degrees of severity, a bit breezey and a bit on the cool side for the time of year. The route was pretty flat and the average pace was almost pedestrian (even for us). The total distance was 67miles and the only stop we had was for me to mend a puncture which was at the wettest part of the ride so I cooled down drastically.
What puzzles me is I felt absolutely kn@ckered last night and even this morning my legs are aching disproportionately to the level of exercise.

If you dont work your muscles enough to get them warm or they are too cold because of the conditions they work very inefficiently and you do some (not permanent) damage to the fibres.
You have to wrap up warm otherwise you can tear a cold muscle.
Rest, perhaps stick a hot water bottle on your muscles or a heated wrap if you have one and get someone to give you a massage. You'll survive.God made the Earth. The Dutch made The Netherlands

For what it's worth, (which I expect not much) I find for an equivalent effort in the cold I feel it an awful lot more than in the warmth..0

The same happens to me when I'm out with the wife.
I think it could be that you also use your muscles differently i.e. grind away slowly rather than spinning at a reasonable cadence.
I know I ache more after a slow day with the mrs rather than a quick ish blast on my own.0 -
