Calais to Sennelager Charity cycle ride
The Challenge 2010 is a group of people who have pledged to raise funds for the Forces Children's Trust during 2010. The Forces Children’s Trust is a charity devoted to helping dependent children that have lost a parent whilst serving with the Armed Forces.
Part of the Challenge 2010 is a cycle ride, where we are aiming to take 50 cyclists from France to Germany.(details as follows):
Starting from Calais it is intended to complete four stages:
First stage Calais to Ghent ( Approx 90 miles) 28/9/10
Second stage Ghent to Deurne (Approx 110 miles) 29/9/10
Third stage Deurne to Ahlen (Approx 103 miles) 30/9/10
Final stage Ahlen to Sennelager (Approx 40 miles) 1/10/10
(All are subject to confirmation re accommodation etc)
Accommodation will be provided. Precise details TBC but may range from either a hotel to army barracks!
Participants will make their own arrangements to get their bikes/equipment to Dover on the evening 27/9/10. Transport will then be laid on to a hotel in Calais. Ride to commence following morning. Participants will be provided transportation (coach) back to Dover (via Calais) on 2/10/10. However, participants may make their own travel arrangements at their own cost.
Participants must provide their own cycles/equipment. It is anticipated that the Challenge 2010 cycle clothing will be available and it is hoped that participants would purchase in order to support the cause!
Cycle mechanic support (with limited spares), along with medical and physio staff will be available
