So, four of us are travelling up (from flat Suffolk) to the peaks - 18th June 2010.

We are all fit and have ridden everywhere else in the UK, apart from the Peaks!

Where's the best trails, and where can maps be found? Also, are there trail centres, like in Wales/Scotland?

Thanks alot,
help is very much appreciated. Cheers :)

albo.

Those are awesome routes. DO them all.
Don't bother with Cannock the peaks wins, you can also ride over down by pindale near castleton or Jacob's Ladder.

Just get an OS map and link those long dotted lines.

Awesome! Thanks alot bamba, those maps will prove to be very useful.
and thanks Smiley, heard alot about Jacob's Ladder, going to have to try to find it!

What sort of trail should we expect in the Peaks?

As a comparison to your average trail centre trail... Harder? Rockier?

    Thanks alot :D

rocky, very rocky at edale , jacobs ladder is on the edale route, near the end going clockwise on the map about where the little "U" shape is on the route.
No comparisson to a trail centre i think.

If you've got 3 days to fill then a loop around Edale, picking up Jacobs Ladder and Chapel Gate, followed by a circuit of Ladybower and then Cut Gate out and back will pretty much cover most of the classic Dark Peak riding.
Get yourself a copy of the Dark Peak MTB guide book and the OS map.
