We are going camping,in August,at Bourg d'oisans,at the last campsite before the Alpe starts.
My Father may fly down to join us for a week,& will need accomodation (not in a tent,he is 75!!)
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced b&b for a single person, either in Bourg,or quite near (ie not at the top of the alpe!)
so many cols,so little time!

Might be an idea to Google for Chambre d' Hote in Bourg d' Oisans.
Could be busy then, though. The French take their hols in Aout, as a rule.

Glad this thread is on here. I was going to start one asking about bike hire places that come recommended around the area.

    Any insight gratefully received.

    Chalet La Source

I've stayed there 4 times. Just accross the road from the new Casino supermarket and right at the foot of the Alpe. Very close to the campsites.

They have nice self catering rooms, cycle storage and are very short walk to the boulangerie in the morning.

I stayed at hotel Terminus last year and will be again this year whilst doing the marmotte. A great little family run hotel just opposite the bus station on the edge of Bourg D'Oisans. The meals there are fantastic too.

That place is nice, basic but the people are lovely. After the Marmotte a couple of years ago, half our club were staying there and the other half out of town and the owner took it upon himself to save us a taxi fare by driving 5 half cut cyclists home at midnight.

I've stayed twice at the Hotel de Milan in BDO. Really friendly owner & staff, nice terrace by the river and a pool.
