Can you mix Shimano and SRAM gear??

Hi,

Im just wondering if i can uses SRAM chain with my new Shimano Saint derailleur on my new build.

My new build is an Ellsworth Rogue, I have a Shimano Saint rear derailleur, 36t up front with LS1 chain device. I need a cassette and Chain. Im looking for something fairly tough, any suggestions

    You can miz and match SRAM/Shimano chains/cassettes/mechs, however you can't mix SRAM/Simano shifters/mechs except for the front mech, which is compatible with both :P

    you can use rocket and attack shifters by sram with shimano mechs.

    I even advise mixing, shimano make the best gears (IMO) but awful chains,
    High end SRAM chains are good, KMC x9 series are the best chains and stunning value (and indestructable)
    Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?
