Hi All,
Well, it will shortly be time to bid goodbye to Hong Kong. After 3 years my contract will end in July, so no more will I have to rise at 05.30 in order to avoid the heat, humidity, rabid dogs and deaf-blind drivers of the former colony. No longer will I be able to climb the sides of extinct volcanoes with the scream of a million cicadas ringing in my ears......
Instead....... I'm off to Limburg, the only hilly part of the Netherlands! Home of the Amstel Gold race. Within half an hour of Liege. Location for the 2012 Road Race Championships. On the route of the Eneco Tour! Apple pies, beer and Gouda!!! God, I just hope my knees hold out.........

Good luck mate, will be sad to leave I would guess.
I am also on the move, leaving behind Jakarta at the end of June and off to Dubai......I will be broken hearted to leave this chaotic uber metropolis, but can't stay forever.....0 -

Thanks for the good wishes, fellow-expat.
I have mixed feelings about leaving HK - it is a great place but I'm craving somewhere a little more ordered and laid back where there is an appreciation that cyclists shouldn't have to ride on the pavement. I don't know how you manage in Jakarta; I lived in KL for 2 years and that was random enough for me. I guess you'll be getting up even earlier to plough up and down the immaculate roads of Dubai before the temperature gets high enough to melt your tyres......Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -
I'm in the same boat. Leaving Slovenia in early July, coming back to England. Swapping a beautiful little Adriatic coastal town for Maidstone.0

I feel your pain. Slovenia is lovely. My first time overseas was on holiday in a little village called Bovec, in the Julian Alps. It was peaceful, warm and beautiful, with stunning alpine scenery.
Maidstone however is a dump! Best of luck readjusting....Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -

dont hold out your hopes for cycling here unless you have a death wish!
boring flat roads, nearly all straight and today it was 46 deg - now 28 (at 9pm) with mega humidity - time to invest in a decent Tacx!http://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png
