... I just saw this for sale on Wiggle and it got me thinking.

What is the most extravagant thing you have ever bought. Something you really didn't need or could have got for a fraction of the price?

I hasten to add, I didn't buy it.... but wish I had the money to afford to spend it on things like that!

When I see wheels for around, £1,999, it makes me do two things...

Go COLD in fear and HOT in temper!

Why the hell would you pay 2 grand for a set of wheels?
Pro's don't, they get em for FREE !!!

Within 5 mins, I'd be riding over loose slate chippings, gravel, cow shit, pot-holes...

Then again, those Botoxed, Nipped and Tucked BE-ATCHES off Sex in the City - SPIT! - have apparently just spent £7 Million Dollars on clothes.
Wot a buch of middle aged, over-the-hill- never have been cows.

Think I saw that Jessica Parker whore-bird in the Grand National recently...

I suppose some people would regard buying this as a display of extravagance.

    I would disagree.

I really like this thread but I'm disappointed that I can't come up with anything good.

My most extravegant purchase is probably a front wheel. I had to replace the rear and bought a new front wheel that I didn't need because I wanted my wheels to match

Nice watch! And that's why I would disagree... £2.5K isn't a lot of money for a nice, quality watch that will last a lifetime and then some.

  • I think it's a case of perspective.....I'm sure we all know people who think spending more than £300 for a whole bike is extravagant.
No-one wanted to eat Patagonia Toothfish so they renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it's in danger of over fishing!

My brother has this watch............ very nice, but a little rich for me.
Can't criticise though, I'm after an Omega Seamaster, which essentially does the same job as a £9.99 Casio :D

Oh. I`ve never heard of pokerface but I just googled it. Apparently Ant and Dec try to give away a million pounds to the winner, so if you won you may be a millionaire. Lucky bar steward.

They didn't TRY to give it away. They gave it away. Twice.

Alas, I was not the winner. But runner up paid OK. 8)

Watches (various by Panerai/Rolex/IWC/JLC) are my achilles heel but I have calmed down for the moment. It got to the stage where I flew to Paris one Saturday to commission a watch-strap for the Panerai from a custom maker. it wasn't that expensive and the flight was only £70 but in terms of madness - expensive.

My two Serottas and the one my partner has altho' they were ex-demo. The list could go on into fashion, shoes (Berluti v.lovely and expensive) but I won't. suffice to say I was lacking something in my life and when I met her the extravagance stopped. However, I'll have to look at that Panerai again :D
