Giro Calories

Just a quick question to any one who's ever done a few days continuous racing; after the energies of say, gettign up the Zoncolan are the riders expected to recoup their lost calories in full or do they go into the next days race in calorie debt, so to speak. Cos it struck me that if they do a hard days climbing and the race finishes at, say, 4.30, they havent got much time to eat let alone rest up. What does a pro racer eat after the race that can replenish the 1000's of calories burnt.

They struggle to replace the calories and will come out of the race lighter. But they have to try and that's why eating is a big part of the day. Soon after crossing the line they might have energy drinks and something to eat. Later they will have a very large meal.

And then there's breakfast, with bread, pasta and cereal. Italian riders in particular will be given bowls of pasta.

Wow, my admiration for them just grows. Its interesting what they eat during the race, i've never seen a menu like that. Time to throw away the rice cakes me thinks.

Sean and DH were saying today that Scarponi had lost a couple of kilos over the race so far.

As this is a menu, do they get to chose one thing from each category? Where's the cheese board?

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

When you see the Motorcycle outriders holding a blackboard, that is the cheese menu.
