anyone using the new 6700 STIs find them uncomfortable? there seems to be a lot of exposed componentry that feels a bit messy particularly when climbing. my mate has last years levers and they are completely filled in on the inside of the hood and a damned sight mory comfy.

the redesign because of moving the cables gives it a much smaller tip, but i wouldnt say its uncomfortable just something to get used too. I dont really notice switching between my bikes anymore tbh.my Giant has tiagra sti and ribble has ultegra 6700. only thing that really bothers me is the tiagra's have gear displays

I've got Ultegra 6700 on me winter bike and Rival on me good bike. After using both, I actually prefer the comfort of the Ultegra hoods, but prefer the shifting action of Rival!

perhaps uncomfortable is the wrong word as general comfort riding the hoods is good. its just feeling part of the mechanism when my fingers wrap round the hood on a climb fel really unatural and not really erganomic. an infill plate similar to the 6600 model would be far more preferable

ay i do get what you're saying
and I can understand it might be annoying or awkward for some people

I noticed I tend to play with one of exposed parts which has slight play in it, sort of twiddling thumbs kinda of moment moving it back and forth. which will probably cause it to fall apart one day

At last, somebody else posting up about this, i only posted a thread a couple of weeks ago when i got my new bike with Ultegra 6700/2010 that i thought there was something left off by the bike shop that built my bike as surely Shimano wouldn't leave it looking like that, it looks like its unfinished!!

Definetely looks strange i will hand you that, however i wouldn't say it feels uncomfortable (in my opinion that is), in actual fact i was only climbing the other day and actually quite liked the idea of my fingers fitting into the mechanics.

It's different, but don't find it uncomfortable.
Have 6600 on one bike 6700 on the other and don't mind switching between them.

I have to say the shifting on the 6600 is better, but 6700 has better braking and internal
    cables.

Does have the look/feel of something missing.... but if that's the way it is designed...
I am more than happy with its performance tho' with sti which is more important for me.

    By the way....
Does anyone have a recommendation for a 13/14-25 cassette suitable for the 6700 ?
