Sportive - Medicals / Licence etc

Seems I'm doing at least one sportive a year where I need a medical (Etape etc). Means
either £70 at a medicentre, or trying to get to my GP (which could mean a half day and they
want to charge me too)

Is there anyway of getting a certificate for many years and events?

I think someone mentioned a 3 year racing licence, but I can't find any info?

The Regs for the Maratona say exactly the same BUT have never been asked for one and friends who did the Marmotte last did nt need one either.
I guess you could type something up just in case

You get a form from the Etape organisers and your doctor stamps/signs it. Mine does it for free.

My mate just signed his own for the Marmotte last year as his GP was going to charge him £65 for the privilege.

I sent off a copy of my current BC racing licence which has been accepted by the organisers of the marmotte. I don't know anything about a 3 year licence though.

Could easily fake it, but would that cause any probs with insurance?
.. if you crashed or something?

They accept a French licence since you need to have a medical to do any sport in France. I've heard that they accpet a BCF licence but since you don't need a medical for that it's not really legit'.
You can get a form from your doctor (22euros in France, seems to vary greatly in the UK), but it's only valid for three months. I'm sure people have photocopied these and changed the dates  but I can't condone that because the whole idea is that you're insured so if you don't do it by the book you could be in trouble.
