OK, so I bought the bike, got the shoes and pedals, I wear lycra, I can do 50 miles in just over 3hrs.

Now....is it bad to want look like I ride for a team? In particular Team Saxo bank as they use specialized bikes?

Is retro kit cooler somehow?

Just don't do what I say one guy do at the weekend: Caisse d'Epargne jersey (red/black) with HTC shorts (yellow/white/green). Looked very odd.

    Wear whatever you want mate.

But, personally I avoid Giro pink TDF Yellow etc, they have to be in my mind earned the hard way.

For some bizarre reason I like shirts covered in adverts, but I'll always keep to bright colours to aid being seen by blind car drivers talking on their mobiles whilst smoking eating and fornicating!

Wearing a team jersey is fine (I always do), but wearing the whole kit of jersey, shorts and socks just seems to be taking it a bit too far to me. I reckon you want to look like you follow cycling without trying to make out you could be in the team!

Surely its no worse (or coincedentally better) than wearing a replica football (insert other sport here) shirt?

this is always a massive talking point on here and most other forums i think....

i'm personally in the camp of who gives a fuck. i'll wear what i want (except leaders / winners / world champ jerseys etc) i dont see it as being any different to a football shirt, and to be fair, i don't find a huge amount of "plain" jerseys I actually like.

Wear whatever you like, but always best if you can get the colours to match. Plain black shorts at least go with anything.

I've known my mate to show up with different team kits for his mitts, top, short and socks. He looks like an exploded peleton. Dont do it !

I quite like the idea of the foska jerseys:

thecyclejersey.com do ones along similar lines, but their online shop has been down for a couple of weeks now.

Im in the could not care camp. I have a yellow jersey by gore bike wear and if someone choses to think im pretending to be in the TDF then they can sod off for all i care.

Bottom line is that if we try to avoid yellow, green, pink, team tops which may be predominantly of one color or other then well all be in the scud. Which is effectively pink so actually thats not allowed, put cycle top on - get on bike - go cycle - happy days...

  • I saw a guy in Bolton town centre last week in full lampre gear.

Chapeau to him I wouldn't have the balls to wear it.

I do like the flandria and team sprocket jerseys though. I'm even thinking of buying them both. I wouldn't got the full hog though and get the full kit. But thats just my personal choice. You do whatever you want fella. :D

Anything that gets the car drivers to pay attention really.

The Foska Baked Beans top works well. I bought a Cofidis top cos it was red (same colour as my bike) and very bright. I don't know if I'd wear the full kit, it will make you look REALLY stupid when you get scalped by the next door neighbours kids on thier way to school.

As an Aussie, I managed to get hold of the whole Australian National Cycling team kit, incl mitts, and it's what I wear predominately (during the summer anyway, it's all short). I'm not part of the team, and I think anyone who saw me would doubt otherwise!!!!!! It's comfortable and is lasting well, and as others have said, I don't give a fook what other think anyway, just being patriotic.
Wear what you want, whatever it looks like, as long as you're comfortable in it.

OK, so I now look like Cavendish from 2008 for the sum of £44!

Fair plan to Prendas for quick service, and a great product!
