I need some new shoes (preferably with SPD compatibility) but they will need to be very wide fitting .My feet measure 4.5" wide at the widest point and I have a huge big toe !
I am currently using an oversize Shimano SH-MO80B but they won't last forever.
(Yes I use an MTB shoe on a road bike  Horror shock awe ....)
Anyone out there with a similar problem that has found a suitable make/model of shoe they can recommend?

There was another thread on this awhile back and I can't remember what all was suggested but I do know that Northwave for one run wider than most and may offer extra wide versions as well. I've found that some of the bigger mfrs. do offer extra wide shoes but don't advertise this for some reason. Try emailing any of them directly and get the details of how to purchase your size.0

thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping there might be others who could recommend some specific shoes . I am in the middle of nowhere and cannot travel to a shop with a large enough stock of shoes to try any unfortunately.0

Have you tried the "mega" versions from Sidi?
They are available in both road and MTB varieties. Expensive, but worth it IMO0 -
I personally find Specialized shoes slightly wider than Northwave, and as wide as SIDI Megas so I would look at Spesh and Sidis, but Northwave are pretty wide.
Some of the Spesh shoes (Elite, S-Works) seem to have a narrower fit though whilst the Pro Road in the middle of the two range wise are very wide.0 -
I have wide feet (and bunions) and found Specialized to be comfortable.
This is the one I wear

Was really excited to read the description for these - for wide or high volume feet - Fantastic i thought!
No such fracking luck - they only start at a 40

Northwave - are a good wide shoe - without the heft price tag of the sidi mega. I used northwave vertigos find them really comfy.
In my experience spesh BG are narrow - they may not look it - but thats my thoughts0 -
I've not tried any of these but Lake are fairly wide, Shimano do a custom fit series that are available with a wide option. Sidi Mega and Northwave as mentioned.Where\'s me jumper?0

Northwave +1 - Best fitting shoes I've found for my fat feet!“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0
