Tyres for ladies bike.

Hi all
Looking to replace the tyres on a ladies bike (a Specialized Expedition) & a bit bewildered by the choice. (the old tyres are cracked & past their best).
The bike will be used about 80% on tracks & 20% tarmac (gentle riding).
The tyre size on the bike at the moment is 26 x 1.95.
Questions:
- Do I have to replace the tyre with exactly the same width as the old one? (i.e. 1.95).
- What "kind" of tyre should I be looking at?
- Any recommendations for a good value tyre.
Many thanks !!

You could go up to about a 2.2.
If upgrading look for kevlar beaded tyres. The Conti Speed King is a fast roller.0 -

Hi SS,
How do you rate your SK Protections? Wear rate and the like?

Not ridden them long enough to comment on wear, but do roll fast, are light, grip very well in the dry but less so in the wet.
They come up quite small - the 2.3 should be fine.0 -
