Im in the market for a new bike and im currently torn between 4 options:

1. Stick with my current 2003 Giant TCR2 and get a shorter stem to fit me better.

2. Buy a Malvern Star Oppy C6. Fantastic value for money. Bike Radar review seemed to indicate its a decent steed.http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/road/product/oppy-c7-10-37492. User reviews are pretty much all positive, not sure on the paint scheme and stickers though.

3. Buy a Giant Defy Advanced 1. Really good value for money. Good kit on it, seemingly good frame.

4. Buy a Cannondale Carbon six 5 (105 for the Europeans). Won bike of the year, worst kit of the lot but arguably the best frame. Best looking bike.

Any opinions/suggestions?

Hi there zoiks. I found your post a bit puzzling! You seem to be torn between two main choices: £30 on a new stem or £3.5k on a new bike??

The shortest stem that I have found to be usable (before it made the bike too twitchy) was 80mm, although in the end I flipped my bars and changed position slightly, which meant that I could keep my original 100mm stem. When I say "I flipped..." I mean that a nice chap who knew what he was doing at a professional bike fit did. It cost me £125. Might be worth adding that as an option to your list whilst you make your mind up on the new steed.

The last of my 10 bob's worth, are you seriously considering £3.5k for a bike with a paint job that you are not even sure of? For that money I would like the bike to look fantastic, make toast in the morning and be the perfect ride (I am sure there is a joke there but it is a bit early) :)

I do have upgraditus so thats what is pushing me to a new bike. It was second hand when I got it, and is looking a little worse for wear due to a recent crash. Everything on it still works though.

My current bike has a 12.5cm stem, I need to move it to a 10cm stem though as it is a little long for me. I guess I could flip it but I would need new cables as they are too short to do it atm.

Im sure all the bikes are good, just trying to get other peoples opinions on what they would do.
