Never mind them, what do you think Magnus thinks of it? Sometimes you can almost hear the frustration in his voice as Carlton makes another ludicrous statement.

FFS this 2 lap thing means GC contenders could have an advantage going out earlier

Don't the GC contenders go out last? It's only really the top 4 who have a chance of victory.

    Won't make that much difference.

Z has got an impressive TT position.

Hmmm, reckon Voigt benefited from a bit of a draft behind Zabriskie. Hes beaten Martin's time.

No, he's just under a minute over Martin's time, which will take some beating. Z is 5 secs slower than him through the intermediate checkpoint.

    Oops. So he did.

Z's hand position is interesting, but he is just generally bloody low!

Anyone remember Dan Maskell's commentary on Wimbledon years ago? Yes, ok, I know it was tennis, but he only spoke when he had something to say, and when he did it was worthwhile actually listening to.

Please, please Eurosport, please do something about this commentary.

    Magnus is ok though.

Seems like a bunch of pro triathletes rode the course before the cyclists; Chris McCormack, Chris Lieto, Chrissie Wellington, maybe some others. Apparently Lieto was going well but flatted, anyone know the times of the others?

Have heard reference in an interview to Wellington being interested in competing for GB in the time trial at the 2012 Olympics, so it would be interesting to see how she went - she's a very strong cyclist.

Jordan Rapp (http://twitter.com/rappstar) saying Macca did a 49:11 and Chrissie 51:30. Interesting.

Macca just clarified his time was 46:15. Not bad.

That was a shockingly bad TT course which is a real shame as some of the route has been really good with stunning scenery, decent roads and some pretty big lumps. You can't have riders doing 2 laps of the same course - if you can't be bothered with the logistics of shutting more roads in a major city then either a) Don't try to host the "4th grand tour", b) Keep the course outside the city or in the suburbs or c) Don't have such a long TT stage. As for Kirby's commentary  it's just lucky he has a Welsh great alongside him to at least salavage some of ES's reputation
