Upgrade Advice!

Hi,
just wondering what you would recommend to upgrade on my rockhopper 2010 comp - i've only had it for a few days and its completely stock, but moving forward what would be good to replace first? i'm looking to get into xc on a regular basis, with the possibility of some light dh - although if this becomes something regular then i'll look into getting another bike.
to start off with some basic stuff i've got some brand new dmr v8s on my old bike that are coming off and replacing these pedals, and i'm guessing it would probably be a good idea to upgrade the stock tyres to something a little more rugged? i've been looking at some maxxis highrollers and will probably pick up a pair...
any advice would be great,
cheers,
Matt

Yes, tyres are a good place to start as kevlar beaded units can save weight.
DMR V8 are heavy - have a look at the Wellgo MG1 for a cost effective upgrade here.
I wouldn't go overboard changing parts - or you should have bought something better0 -
any idea about handlebars? i'm a sucker for looks and want to get it colour coordinated, i want to get my hands on a new set of handlebars just for the sake of it, and a white stem to go with my new (thanks btw) white wellgo pedalsspesh rockhopper sl comp0
