BBC 4, 10pm tonight: Neil Young: Don't be denied.
Be there, or be square!Neil Young grants rare and unprecedented access to the BBC for a documentary in which he traces his musical journey in his own words.
The film was made from three hours of interview shot in New York and California, and uses previously unseen performance footage from the star's own extensive archives. It also features cohorts Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Nils Lofgren and James Taylor. ...

Thanks for that. Would have missed it."There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0 -
The BBC doing what it does best. I knew quite a bit of NY's life already, but it tied a few bits toghether that was new.
I didn't know that he knew Charles Manson. (but then again most people don't know that Charles Manson was a Scientologist, but left because they were 'too f'n crazy' )
Got to respect the man for doing his own thing and not bowing down to the record companies or sponsors. It's about the music; it's always been about the music.
It seems bizzare tha he was into A Flock of Seagulls.A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -
Ronnie Van Zant, Lynyrd Skynyrds frontman wrote 'Sweet Home Alabama' in response to Youngs 'southern man' a song that described the racial unrest in the deep south, although their opinions often clashed they did respect each other, Young offered Skynyrd 'powderfinger' a song he had recently wrote, as a goodwill gesture, but Van Zant declined the offer saying it also had racial undertones.
The two of them did share the same opinions of the record companies tho, both deciding to do their own thing, their way, unlike numerous bands/artists at the present.0 -
Declining a great song on the grounds of racial undertones seems a bit rich from LS . Have you heard the lastv single "God and Guns" . Great riff ,but a huge slab of redneck Xenophobia0

Thanks for the heads-up, would have missed this. Nils Lofgren is one of my guitar heroes and have seen him gigging since the 70's.
Cheers0 -
