Hi all,
sorry if this is in the wrong forum, i'm new to the forum, not to biking
let me introduce myself,
I'm joe,
I ride a single speed hardrock with a carbon front fork, mg-1 pedals and dmr Cranks upgrade,
i just recieved a genesis altitude 20 and its aswesome, just needs a few bits doing to it... break beed, different pedals (came with clips, not flats) but thats it
just a few questions
1. What flat pedals should i get?
2. What Helmet? I have one at the moment but it makes my head boil... kinda rubbish for summer use...
3. Where can i get a break bleed kit? how easy is it to make one? where do i get mineral oil? and where can i get those spaces you use when bleeding breaks?
4. Air forks... i'm confused... how do i set them up?
5. any one have experiance with genesis bikes? looks pretty good to me at the moment, but i cant really compare it to my old bike :P as its 5 times the price

Mg1 - they a are great.
Try some helmets on and go for the most comfortable and best fit.
Depends on the brake - try ebay.
Read the manual - but what fork?
Great bikes - did well in our testing.0 -
1. Take a look at http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/ for pedals ,very good
2. When you find one that doesent make you hot let me know, summer makes me melt
3. Depends on brakes some can be bled without a kit e.g. hope
4.Air forks- usually adjust air pressure to set a sag of 25-30% i.e fork depresses that amount of travel with you dressed in riding gear
5. Genesis re nice looking bikes particularly the steel ones, although I am biased towards skinny tubes

yea, i love my mg1's on my hardrock so gripy, but they eat your shoes... might need some 5tens....
fork is a Rockshox Reba SL 120mm with lockout and Maxle
and breaks are Shimano BR-M575 hydraulic discs
hopefully gonna get to my lbs... get the break bleed kit and a shock pump... hopefully get some setup help as well
helmets... i hate emm.... i wont ride without one but my heads huge..so i cant ever find a comfortable one!
i also love the skinney tubes :P so sleek0 -
ohh and another quick question....
Insurance.... what company? and why?
thanks guys0 -
I was told that you could use mineral engine oil in your breaks!? I went to a motoring shop and was met with a choice of mineral oils?!
How do I make a post myself??????0 -
Press 'new topic' in the main section.
Depends on the brake what oil is used.0 -
Shimano brakes are a doddle to bleed. Kit not really required.
I guess they must be similar to these?

I wouldn't say you dont need anything felix, you cant just pour oil in the top and haza, perfect brakes again.
OP, you will need, a 50ml syringe, some rc car fuel tube, mineral oil (i use finish line) and a bleed funnel.
One of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-Works ... 4abb8b2ba7
Oh an a plastic bag and a rubber band.
Here's how to do it.

The only thing the dont mention in the video is about bleed blocks which you fit into the caliper for the pistons to push against when your pumping air out. you can make your own block or if your carefull not to spray mineral oil everywhere just do it with the discs and pads in place.Never argue with an idiot, he'll only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.0
