hi all
just stripped myforks ( rock shock tora sl ) as i was having a creaking sound;
found a lot of water in there starting to rust!!! only 5mths old?
i have soaked the bearings so now theres no grease in them!!
question is can i just squirt ptfe grease in them?
also why are they creaking and rusting seems a little early to me for a bearing strip down

cheers paul

    hi sup;ersonic

    thought u would only need to know the forks!!
    its a sp;esh rockhop;p;er comp 2010
    the bearings came with the forks and the bike is standard
    theyre a sealed typ;e bearing with a built in red p;lastic grease seal
    i reckon i can sp;ray some p;tfe grease in there
    cheers p;aul

    The bearings don't come with the fork, the headset is a separate unit.

    Yeah, just pop some grease in, reassemble and adjust the headset. Kepp an eye on it, some require this frequently.

    You can usually open up the bearings. They will have a rubber seal on each side which, with the aid of a very sharp knife, you can pop out. Repack fully with good MTB grease and push the seals back into place.
    It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
